SEPT 14 Here's the video! SEPT 12 Another single from Robert! This time in Australia. Debuting at #29 on the chart. "Is That All There Is?" by Kaylens Rain
AUG 18 Well we told you we'd keep you updated. Check out the new album from Every Avenue. And go to iTunes and download Robert's co-write with the band "I Can't Not Love You". It's awesome. Nice work guys, and good luck with the album!
JULY 5 REO headed north to New England for the month for a visit to Cape Cod, Nantucket, Maine and New Hampshire. He's been writing with a lot of great rock bands lately, like Every Avenue, Amely, A Rocket To The Moon, and Before You Exit. Check them out and we'll keep you updated on cuts as they come! Here's a picture of Petie Pizarro (REO's co-writer, along with Ben Jones) and his band Amely.
JUNE 28 Robert has been in the studio working on three projects, all of which are nearing completion. There's the debut album from the little bear (and an EP that's out now on Plastic 350 Records!), the second album from Art Circus (this time featuring Halle Jane), and the new album from REO's band Monkey Bowl. It's called Space. Here's the EP and a link to Plastic 350 Records! MAY 4 This being REO's birthday, we thought this might be an appropriate post. Or maybe it should wait until Fathers Day. Oh well, we can't wait. Ultra-hip music/fashion/pop-culture magazine VICE declares Robert "the best band Dad in the world" in this article in the new issue. And it's even in the Russian version, and how do we know that? Because sons Jake and Jamin just got back from a packed house crazy gig in Moscow and brought back the Russian edition. It's all written in Russian! These are the too-cute pics that accompany the story.
MAY 3 "Look It Up" goes top twenty on the charts! And that's not even the BIG NEWS: "JEFF the Brotherhood and Infinity Cat Ink Deal With Warner Bros." That's the big news. The Nashville Scene today announced what we've known here for months but couldn't say. "Yesterday, JEFF singer-guitarist Jake Orrall and Infinity Cat co-founder Robert Ellis Orrall confirmed with the Scene that the local punk torch-bearers have — in conjunction with their literal and figurative parent label — signed a deal with Warner Music Group. The agreement will give the band global distribution through the conglomerate’s Alternative Distribution Alliance (aka the ADA) and Infinity Cat a place among WMG’s Independent Label Group." Yep. Pretty awesome. FEB 12 Back in the studio: This time, Robert has been putting the finishing touches on mixing the nest album from JEFF The Brotherhood, "We Are The Champions". We've been listening in and it sounds amazing. Classic rock for 2011. Also, he's been mixing tracks for the little bear, and recording songs for the next Monkey Bowl album. More on all this music later. In other news, the Ashton Shepherd single continues it's climb up the chart! It's all good! JAN 27 Robert is a huge fan of his cousin Frank Orrall and all the creative things he does. His band, Poi Dog Pondering, is a musical treasure. You can get lost on their website for days. When he's not recording or painting or DJing or touring with Theivery Corporation, he will actually come to your house, cook dinner for you and your friends, and play your favorite PdP songs. Recently, Chicago TV program Fear Not Art did a story on him- watch the video HERE, it's a great way to get to know the world of Frank Orrall. And if you live in the Chicago area, be sure and experience the wonder of Poi Dog Pondering at the Vic Theater on February 4th and 5th. JAN 7 Ashton Shepherd's new single "Look It Up", storms onto the chart as the Hot Shot Debut in the first week of the new year! Looks like another hit for Robert Ellis Orrall. This one written with one of his fave writers, Angaleena Presley. Robert and Angaleena will surely perform the song when they team up at Nashville's Listening Room Cafe (209 10th Ave S.) on January 19th. We asked Robert what he thought of the single: "I've had a lot of cuts over the years. But this is one of the besr performances, best recordings, and best productions of one my songs I've ever had. When Buddy (Cannon, the producer) first played it for me I teared up. This is what it's all about. This girl is the real deal". .The song will be available for purchase digitally on Tuesday, January 4. Ashton has a few things to say about it, too: “’Look It Up’ is a song about somebody who is officially done with something to the point that they are really over it. It’s almost like they aren’t that mad anymore, just ready to be through with it, just done. ‘Done’ is a good word. People are having so much fun with it. They are embracing the thought of somebody being in that place in their life that the song is describing, which I think is wonderful. Everybody’s reactions have been very positive, and they’re laughing and clapping their hands and just tickled over it. I’m just left smiling after singing it because people are grabbing a hold of it. This song is a real-people song. People go through it every day and people want to be over it. Even the people that aren’t over it and are still clinging to something, this is the song they need to hear to lighten their minds. I am looking at this record and going, ‘Wow! Look at the awesome songwriters on here —Bobby Pinson, Troy Jones, Rhett Akins, Dallas Davidson, Robert Ellis Orrall.' It’s a dream come true for me. It’s like watching a different kind of child grow. You’re watching it grow and you don’t know exactly what it’s going to do, but you have these great feelings about it and you can see it starting to move. It feels really positive.” NOV 12 Robert co-wrote the new "comeback/farewell" single from country legends The Judds. They've been all over the tube promoting it, from Oprah to the Today Show. Also look for it to be the new theme song for their upcoming reality TV show on the Oprah Network. They did a video in honor of St. Jude Children Research Hospital. St. Jude internationally recognized for its pioneering work in finding cures and saving children with pediatric cancer, and all the proceeds from the Judds recording will go to St. Jude. SEPT 15
Last night Robert picked up his 11th ASCAP Award, this time as the Publisher of Love and Theft's hit song "Runaway". Co-written by Stephen Barker Liles (best-dressed attendee), Canaan Smith (coolest attendee), and Rob Blackledge, the song graced Billboard's Top Ten for three weeks. Highlight of the show: Steve Earle's performance honoring Alan Jackson. SEPT 8
Wo! What is this gem of an LP doing here? Well this is the debut album from Heavy Cream, and it's called "Danny". Robert mixed it and it is just plain awesome. You can get it at Infinity Cat right HERE. Says My Old Kentucky Blog: "If Those Darlins are the kinda Tennessee gals that tipped cows, went road-trippin', drank moonshine, and listened to Waylon Jennings and Jason and the Scorchers, then Heavy Cream are their garage-rock sisters that smoked cigarettes in the bathroom, made out under the bleachers, and listened to The Stooges and Jay Reatard. Nashville's Heavy Cream explode with fast, short, exuberant bursts of garage rock." If you loved REO's crazy shows circa 1981, you will fall in love with Heavy Cream! SEPT 2 BULLETIN: If you missed the Science Fair, you missed a crowded gallery enjoying wine, cheese, s'mores and buckets of Tater Tots. But you are still in luck, art lovers! Estel Gallery has decided to keep the show running another month, with a Closing Party on Monday, September 27. See you there! JULY 26 If you are in Nashville TN on Aug 7, you won't want to miss the grand opening party for Robert's new art show, "Science Fair". Consider this your invitation!
After
never completing a Science Fair project in school, R. Ellis Orrall is
making up now with a whole bunch of them. JULY 17 What's new? Robert and the band headed to Fenway Park the next day to catch a Red Sox game. While in Boston, he wrote with superstar-to-be Casey Desmond. More on her in an upcoming post!

Joining Robert to sing their hits were Steve Diamond ("I Can Love You Like That", "Let Me Let Go") and Billy Steinberg ("Like A Virgin", "True Colors"). He sent us this email right before the show: Hi everyone. Just did soundcheck. There will be 2000 people in these seats when I go on at 5:30. I'm following Justin Timberlake. Yup, that Justin Timberlake. Wish me luck! --love from Hollywood! FEB 23 Check out the video for Robert's newest hit single, "Wrong Baby Wrong" from Martina McBride! JULY 29 Love and Theft continue to shoot up the charts with their debut single "Runaway", from their upcoming album "World Wide Open", produced by Robert with Jeff Coplan. Robert co-wrote 4 songs on the album, which drops August 25th. We're biased, but trust us, it's a fantastic album. APRIL 26 And Love and Theft's "Runaway" jumps from 43 to 38 on the Country chart. Congratulations to LnT on their first Top 40 hit. MARCH 27 Okay, this is pretty
cool. People Magazine reviewed both albums and singled out Robert's
songs as the BEST SONG on EACH ALBUM! Check it out... "McBride smoothly
goes from the upbeat (“Ride,” the driving first single) to the bittersweet
(“I’m Trying,” the best of the ballads). She even includes a timely nod
to the recession (“Don’t Cost A Dime”). But she shines brightest on
the breakup anthem “Wrong Baby, Wrong Baby, Wrong.” MARCH 22 Check out Robert's songs on these brand new releases!
